Ohio State Recruiting: Ryan Day On Verge Of Losing 5-Star Target As Insider Names SEC School Leading Race

Head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a national championship season in 2024. Heading into the 2025 college football season, they are focused on repeating as champions and look poised to be one of the top contenders again. However, they are also focused on ensuring they have a strong future. The best way to ensure a team is good for years to come is to be consistent in recruiting.

One of the top players the Buckeyes have been looking at in the 2026 recruiting class is five-star safety Bralan Womack. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 13-ranked player in his class. While the Buckeyes have been a top contender throughout his recruitment, they no longer appear to be the favorite.

On Sunday morning, Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong logged his prediction for where Bralan Womack will end up. He predicted that the Auburn Tigers would land the star safety.

“FONG BOMB: Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong has logged an expert prediction for Auburn to land 5-star safety Bralan Womack.”

However, it is not locked in that Bralan Womack will commit to the Auburn Tigers. In his report, Wiltfong said his confidence level in his pick was at 60%. So, there is still a chance that the Buckeyes could swoop in and steal the safety out from under the Tigers. Womack is set to announce his commitment on Aug. 21.

HC Ryan Day and Ohio State Still Have a Strong 2026 Recruiting Class if They Miss Out on Bralan Womack

While Bralan Womack would be a great addition to Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes’ 2026 recruiting class, they still would have a strong group without him. Womack would be the team’s top recruit of the year thus far, but despite possibly losing him, the Buckeyes still have the No. 9-ranked recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

The team’s top recruit thus far is wide receiver Chris Henry Jr, who is the No. 39-ranked recruit in the nation.

Regardless of whether Womack ends up on the Buckeyes, the team is set up for success for years to come with a strong young core that includes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
