Peyton Houston Takes QB MVP Honors at Rivals Camp Dallas with Recruiting Giants Lurking
Every rising star knows when it’s time to shine, and for top prospects, there’s no better stage than the Rivals Camp. On Sunday, Houston made the most of that spotlight. The 16-year-old 4-star quarterback was locked in from start to finish, earning QB MVP honors with a performance that left no doubt about his elite status.

What set him apart? Houston had an exceptional touch on short and intermediate throws, fired deep balls with impressive velocity, and displayed advanced timing and anticipation well beyond his age. His consistency throughout the day only solidified why he’s one of the most coveted arms in the 2027 class.
The 6’0″, 198-pounder plays for Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a first-year starter last season, the dual-threat QB had an impressive campaign, completing 70% of his passes for 4,480 yards and 38 touchdowns against just six interceptions.
Houston also racked up 690 rushing yards and added seven scores on the ground, proving he’s just as much of a threat with his legs as with his arm.
Rivals rank Houston as the No. 2 quarterback and overall player in Louisiana and the No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2027.
With numbers like his, it’s no surprise his offer list is expanding quickly. Programs like Florida State Seminoles, Michigan Wolverines, Auburn Tigers, and Penn State Nittany Lions have already extended scholarship offers, pushing his total number of offers to 27.
Still, a select group of college football powerhouses, the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, and USC Trojans, are rumored to be the early frontrunners.
While Houston is still a year away from taking official visits, which will begin in April 2026, there’s already some light speculation about his stance. During Sunday’s Rivals Camp stop in Dallas, Houston was spotted doing drills with a Georgia towel draped over his gear. Coincidence?

Maybe. But with the Tigers extending an offer in October 2024, that might’ve said more than words could.
However, one thing’s for sure — the race to land Houston is only heating up, and it will be one of the most-watched recruitments in the country over the next two seasons.
