Why Rich Rodriguez Banned TikTok Dancing

Rodriguez, speaking in an interview with Always College Football, went on record stating that the main reasoning behind his restrictions on TiTtok dancing, is that he wants his players to focus on making money from football, rather than “embarassing themselves.” on the Social Media Platform.

“If they can make money, being good at something, i want them to make money being good at football.”

Prior to this, the Mountaineers’ head coach went viral following his quotes on the matter during a press conference. He stated that it’s hard for his program to have an edge when his players are posting videos of themselves dancing in the changing rooms on social media.

“It’s like, look, we try to have a hard edge or whatever, and you’re in there in your tights dancing on TikTok, ain’t quite the image of our program that I want.”

Among the many reactions to Rodriguez’s comments was former Indianapolis Colts Punter and NFL Pundit Pat McAfee, who gave his thoughts on the West Virginia head coaches’ comments on his show.

Following a brief discussion on the comments, Mcafee mentioned that while it was perfectly clear to him why College Football stars, including Heisman Winner Travis Hunter, were partaking in this particular TikTok Dancing “Culture,” he understood why Rodriguez made the decision to ban it in his locker room.

“It tries to promote fun; I don’t mind it all, but I don’t mind Rodriguez saying that this isn’t what he’s looking for.”

Rodriguez is set to take the sidelines for his second season with this  Mountaineers side in the upcoming season. With a Spring Showcase planned for April 5th, the polarizing head coach has gone on record to say he has realistic expectations for the upcoming season.
