Following the 2025 NFL Draft, Rich Eisen had harsh things to say about the Dallas Cowboys. On his most recent show, Eisen questioned the Cowboys’ decision-making, namely their decision to pass on Tyler Warren, a talented tight end. Eisen claims that Dallas lost a great chance to acquire one of the most potent offensive weapons in the draft.

Rich Eisen Slams Cowboys for Passing on Tyler Warren in Latest Draft, Says He’s a Bigger Weapon Than Any Wide Receiver
When discussing Dallas’ draft plan during a segment of The Rich Eisen Show (about the 18-minute mark), Eisen didn’t hold back. Eisen thinks the Cowboys made a grave error by drafting a wide receiver rather than Warren. He emphasized how Warren’s size, athleticism, and versatility could have revolutionized the Cowboys’ offense.
Eisen maintained that the Cowboys lack a dynamic tight end who can generate mismatches and open the field for Dak Prescott, even if they already have depth at receiver. Eisen believed Warren could have been the ideal candidate for the position. His ability to block well, stretch defenses vertically, and be a consistent red-zone target would have given the Dallas offense another level of play.
Why Tyler Warren Could Have Been a Game-Changer for Dallas
Warren plays more like a cross between a wide receiver and a classic tight end than most. Eisen emphasized Warren’s remarkable ability to move like a wideout while retaining the strength and physicality required for blocking tasks. In today’s NFL, where adaptability and creating mismatches are essential, players like Warren are invaluable.
Eisen emphasized that Warren would have given other Cowboys playmakers more opportunities by forcing defenders to modify their strategies. By passing on him, Dallas may have lost the chance to become far less predictable offensively, which has hurt them in recent seasons.
Questioning Dallas’ Offensive Priorities
Although Eisen wasn’t totally against the Cowboys’ draft overall, he did question whether selecting another wide receiver was the best use of their pick because CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and other key players already play important roles, so adding another receiver might have been more of a luxury than a necessity.
Instead, bolstering the tight-end position with someone like Warren could have filled a more urgent offensive gap. Eisen’s frustration seemed to stem from his belief that Dallas was on the verge of becoming a serious contender, but that choices like this could hold them back when it counts most.
