Following the Las Vegas Raiders’ trade acquisition of quarterback Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle is now tasked with finding a new signal-caller. As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders secured Smith by trading a 2025 third-round pick (92nd overall).
Smith’s departure marks the conclusion of his six-year Seahawks career, during which he received two invitations to join the Pro Bowl. Seattle could pursue Jaxon Dart beyond the first round of the upcoming draft since Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders have been deemed early draft prospects. The 2025 NFL Draft offers several prospects for the Seahawks to substitute their departed veteran quarterback position.

Potential Geno Smith Replacements in the 2025 NFL Draft
With Geno Smith now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, the Seattle Seahawks are actively exploring quarterback options in the 2025 NFL Draft. While securing a top-tier talent like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders may require strategic maneuvering, several promising candidates are available.
1) Cam Ward, Miami
Cam Ward enters the 2025 NFL Draft as the consensus QB1 following his standout season with the Miami Hurricanes. He threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns against seven interceptions while completing 67.2% of his passes.
Ward’s impressive performance earned him Heisman Trophy finalist honors and the prestigious Davey O’Brien Award, given to the nation’s top quarterback. Ward avoided NFL Scouting Combine throwing events but plans to demonstrate his pitching abilities at Miami’s upcoming pro day before the April draft.
2) Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
Jaxson Dart impressed during the 2025 NFL Combine, completing 18 of 23 passes in throwing drills while demonstrating strong arm talent. The Ole Miss standout finished the 2024 season with a 69.3% completion rate, 4,279 passing yards, and 32 total touchdowns with just six interceptions.
3) Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
The son of Coach Prime Deion Sander, Shedeur Sanders is a polished pocket passer recognized for his accuracy, composure, and production. In 2024, Sanders posted 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Though concerns about his arm strength and tendency to hold the ball too long may impact his draft position, Seattle could see him as a viable option if he falls.
4) Jalen Milroe, Alabama
Jalen Milroe gained recognition for his athletic abilities while showing a hand measuring 9 3/8″ above the standard 9″. He stands 6’1.5” and weighs 217 pounds. In 2024, Milroe gained 726 yards through rushing while scoring 20 touchdowns, but his passing effectiveness decreased from his performance the year before.
5) Tyler Shough, Louisville
Football QB prospect Tyler Shough maintained the 11th position in QB rankings after achieving success at Louisville in 2024. Shough completed 3,195 passing yards in his 2024 season at Louisville University with 23 touchdown passes and six interceptions while having a 148.1 QB rating.
