Todd McShay Speaks on Ashton Jeanty

If you are looking to learn more about the NFL Draft and the prospects involved, analyst Todd McShay is one of the best people to follow.

In McShay’s latest draft article, he compared Jeanty to New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara.

“I can’t unsee this comparison, especially after I rewatched Kamara’s college tape from Tennessee…(Jeanty’s) not quite as sudden as Kamara, but he’s damn close.”

For reference, Kamara has been one of the league’s best running backs since he was drafted by the Saints out of Tennessee in 2017.

He is a five-time Pro Bowler and the Saints’ all-time leading rusher. Jeanty can be a factor both on the ground and through the air, similar to Kamara.

    Where Could Jeanty Get Drafted?

A team to watch for Jeanty could be the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick No. 21 overall.

While the team does have Jaylen Warren for another season, they also added veteran Kenneth Gainwell this offseason. Especially if Pittsburgh finds a way to land future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers under center, this team may want to round out the offense.

Jeanty, the Maxwell and Doak Walker Award winner, rushed for a whopping 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns for the Broncos in 2024.

He is a multi-dimensional back who could add another layer to this Arthur Smith offense in the Steel City.

Perhaps another team to watch for could be the New York Giants early on in the second round. While the team is likely to draft a quarterback with the third overall pick, they pick again at No. 34.

They don’t seem to have a long-term option in the backfield after they lost All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley last offseason to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Could you imagine if the Giants drafted Shedeur Sanders and Ashton Jeanty with their first two picks to go along with standout wide receiver Malik Nabers?
