Shedeur Sanders Battles Injury While Travis Hunter Dominates NFL Training Camp

Both Sanders and Hunter are traversing their paths professionally with quite different expectations and early circumstances.

Sanders, a fifth-round choice by Cleveland, has quickly had to establish himself when facing adversity as a rookie. Recent media reports suggest he is dealing with some arm and shoulder soreness, which is keeping him from team drills and competitive practices.

The injury is happening at a critical moment – Sanders is competing with veteran quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel for a quarterback spot. Prior to being injured, Sanders had been climbing into the conversation of depth chart possibilities, especially during the absence of Pickett due to a hamstring injury.

Hunter’s professional beginning tells a completely different story. The Jacksonville Jaguars chose him number two overall, effectively designating him as a fundamental piece of their future puzzle.

Reports coming out of camp indicate Hunter is making flashy plays on both offense and defense. Most recently, he made a highlight touchdown catch in practice that worried coaches when he landed hard on the play.
