Ravens’ WR DeAndre Hopkins tribute displays brotherhood among players

DeAndre Hopkins’ post about Tyrann Mathieu’s retirement highlights the mutual respect elite players have for one another after competing at the highest level of football. After building a Hall of Fame-worthy resume himself, the Ravens receiver understands the commitment to greatness it takes to endure a long NFL career.

Hopkins’ tribute timing coincided with his move to Baltimore. Following a split season in 2024 with the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs, Hopkins signed with the Ravens, hoping to help their receiving corps as a complementary piece with already-favorable pieces Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Mark Andrews in place.

After a mid-season trade that sent Hopkins from Tennessee to Kansas City, he played a significant part in that franchise’s championship run, which concluded with Super Bowl LIX. The veteran player’s tons of playoff experience and “been there done that” mentality appealed to the Ravens management in their search for upgraded offensive abilities.

The social media escapades of the veteran receiver further explain the sort of brotherhood that exists among players that is much bigger than team rivalry in pro football. The ultimate compliment a player can receive, from others, after enjoying success over multiple seasons is appreciation from those teammates for being in a similar situation and position.
