The Hurricanes are a dark horse despite being just a game away from the Playoffs in 2024.
That's because no one quite expects this Miami team to reload after losing the potential No. 1 overall pick in Cam Ward.
However, with Carson Beck in the fold, and a roster ready to repeat their success at every level, this team should make waves in the ACC and potentially earn the automatic bid by winning the conference.![](https://collegefootballnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/CFB-Dark-Horse-2-Army-623x420.jpg)

The Buffs were a tiebreaker away from making the Big 12 Championship Game last season, and in a weakened season in the Big 12 this year, they could work their way back this season.
With Kaidon Salter set to take over for Shedeur Sanders, the most important position is set for Colorado.![](https://collegefootballnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/CFB-Dark-Horse-4-Louisville-630x420.jpg)

The only reason SC is down this far on the list of dark horse teams is because we weren't sure we can call them a dark horse.
SC was a game away from making the Playoffs last year and they should only be better in 2025. Can we call them a dark horse UNTIl the make the playoffs?![](https://collegefootballnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/CFB-Dark-Horse-8-Florida-596x420.jpg)
