With the 2025 regular college football season coming to a close, a lot of teams and players have already started to think of their potential permutations and combinations ahead of the next season.
The regular season’s end also signifies that the transfer portal for the 2026 campaign is around the corner, with a plethora of quarterbacks looking for a new program.
Let’s take a look at all the signal callers who are touted to join the January 2026 transfer portal ahead of the next season.
1) Dylan Raiola
Nebraska Cornhuskers’ star quarterback Dylan Raiola is expected to enter the transfer portal ahead of the new college football season. Through the 2025 season, Raiola has thrown for over 2,000 yards with 18 TDs and 6 interceptions, with Matt Rhule’s side finishing their campaign with a record of 7-5.
Whilst the reason behind Raiola’s departure is unknown, it could be attributed to the firing of his uncle and Nebraska’s offensive line coach, Donovan Raiola.
2) DJ Lagway
DJ Lagway recently shared a heartfelt Instagram post announcing his departure from the Florida Gators to enter the transfer portal ahead of the 2026 college football season. Lagway’s decision to leave the Gators came after the Florida-based side finished their 2025 campaign with an overall record of 4-8.
Lagway’s 2025 campaign saw him complete over 63% of his passes for over 2,200+ yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
3) Brendan Sorsby
Brendan Sorsby joins the list of one of the many quarterbacks who are set to enter the transfer portal before the 2026 season. Sorsby announced his departure from the Cincinnati Bearcats with a touching post on X.
He has thrown for 2,800 yards with 27 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in the 2025 season, whilst completing 207 of 336 passes.
4) Sam Leavitt
After deciding to leave ASU a few weeks back, Sam Leavitt is set to enter the transfer portal ahead of the new college football season. Reportedly, a total of four programs, namely LSU, Miami, Indiana, and Oregon, are vying for Leavitt’s signature.
The former Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback has appeared in 7 games during the 2025 season, completing 145 of 239 passes for 1,628 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.
5) Aidan Chiles
Quarterback Aidan Chiles, as per reports, has entered the college football transfer window ahead of the 2026 season. Aidan’s decision to enter the transfer portal ahead of the next CFB season comes on the backdrop of the Michigan-based side finishing their 2025 campaign with an abysmal overall record of 4-8.
Meanwhile, Chiles finished the 2025 regular season, completing a little over 63% of his passes for 1,392 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions in eight appearances for the Spartans.
6) Drew Mestemaker
Drew Mestemaker, as per reports, is set to join the transfer portal soon, leaving the North Texas Mean Green quarterbacks. With Mestemaker touted to look for a new destination come next season, rumors suggest that Oklahoma and Indiana are in the mix to sign the 6’4″ quarterback.
In the 2025 season, he completed 292 of 416 passes for 4,129 yards while also compiling 31 touchdowns and a passer rating of 174.8.
7) TJ Finley
Georgia State quarterback TJ Finley is set to enter the transfer portal after announcing his decision in an emotional Instagram post. This is the sixth time Finley has decided to enter the transfer portal after having represented Auburn, Texas State, Western Kentucky, LSU, and Georgia State.
In 2025, he threw for 1,244 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions while going 1-6 in seven games.
