Think you can win on Wisconsin in college football Week 4? Looking to put some pennies on Purdue this Friday night? If you’re going to take advantage of the Purdue vs. Wisconsin odds, consider some of the following factors before you part with your hard-earned cash.
The Week 4 clash is the 100th all-time between the two Big Ten programs, and Wisconsin had a considerable head-to-head advantage — particularly in recent time. The Badgers are on a 16-game win streak against the Boilermakers, and while Luke Fickell’s team haven’t quite hit the form of preseason expectation, they should keep that streak going.
Wisconsin is 2-1 as the moneyline favorite, and should stretch that to 3-1 against Purdue. Although they’re 1-2 against the spread this year, each of their victories has come by more than the six point line, so if you think that they’re going to beat the Boilermakers, back them against the spread too. There’s been just one close game between the two in the last 16 encounters.
As for the over/under line, read on to our Purdue vs. Wisconsin prediction to find out how many points we see this game producing. Spoiler alert; we’re not wielding the hammer on the over for this game despite three of the last four matchups between the two Big Ten teams covering the 53-point line.

There are four Friday college football games to compile your DFS team from in Week 3. If you’re new to DFS, Fanduel Superflex contests require you to select a quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, then a “superflex” than can be any of the above or you can also select a tight end in the superflex spot.
Tanner Mordecai’s reputation as a point-scoring gunslinger during his time at SMU made him a popular fantasy choice as the expected face of offensive transformation at Wisconsin. We’ve yet to see it — particularly from a fantasy perspective — and there are better fantasy QB options out there on this Friday slate. Hudson Card has fared a little better, but I’d avoid both.
Both sets of pass-catchers have produced highlight-reel plays through three games, but there isn’t one receiver on either team that has established themselves as a must-target, down-to-down threat. Deion Burks leads the way with 41.1 fantasy points, but the majority of his production came in Week 1 with a 152-yard, two score outing.
While Wisconsin’s Chimere Dike can be a big-play threat, the nature of the Boilermakers defense lends itself to favoring the Badgers’ running backs for your Purdue vs. Wisconsin picks. Both Chez Mellusi and Braelon Allen are averaging over six yards per carry, rushing for four scores each. Allen also leads the team in receptions. Tyrone Tracy would make a good “value” pick.
Prediction for Purdue vs. Wisconsin
Okay, so we’ve furnished you with the Purdue vs. Wisconsin odds and some DFS picks and it’s time to close this thing out with our Purdue vs. Wisconsin prediction. Can the Boilermakers bring to an end the Badgers’ 16-game winning streak in this 100th edition of the matchup? Or will Wisconsin prove too strong for their Big Ten compatriots?
In many ways, it’s a must-win for each of the two teams whose head coach hires paved the way for high expectations. Although Wisconsin is 2-1 through Week 3, neither team has really lived up to those yet. Despite this, when you weigh up the strengths and weaknesses of the two teams, there is really likely to be only one winner when Friday night football comes to Indiana.
If Purdue can get Card and Burks operating at a high level early on, they could pose some problems for a Wisconsin defense that has given up one of the worst completion percentages to opposition QBs in the Big Ten and allowed a red zone score on 75% of trips. The Boilermakers’ defense has been more efficient against the passing game than the Badgers so far in 2023.
However much you try, you can not prevent Wisconsin football from being Wisconsin football. The Badgers have a double-headed backfield threat in Allen and Mellusi, and they should lean on that. Purdue has allowed six rushing touchdowns in 2023, the second most in the Big Ten. Only Indiana, Northwestern, and Illinois have allowed more yards per carry. Run game for the win.
Prediction: Purdue 23, Wisconsin 30
