‘I Can’t Recall a Prospect Quite Like Travis Hunter’ — NFL Draft Analyst Makes Huge Prediction for Colorado Standout

ESPN's Field Yates believes that former Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter is unlike any NFL draft prospect he's seen before.

Travis Hunter is a generational talent. Athletes like him are not a frequent occurrence in a loaded 2025 NFL draft class, which is why he is a hot prospect. The Colorado Buffaloes standout will attract immense attention from all 32 teams, but Hunter will most likely be a top-5 pick and could go No. 1 overall.

While many experts have predicted QBs (Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward) to be the top choice, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Field Yates recently dropped a bold analysis on prominent prospects in this class.

Field Yates Votes for Travis Hunter To Go No. 1 Overall in 2025 NFL Draft

ESPN insider and analyst Yates has no apprehensions about the Colorado two-way star’s abilities. He claims having Hunter on the roster happens to be a one-stop solution for head coaches at offense and defense since he brings stability on both sides of the ball.

However, it is yet to be seen how effective he will become in the pro league since the intensity of football is extremely different at college and in the NFL. But Yates, in his latest mock draft released this week on Wednesday (Feb. 12), makes Hunter an obvious No. 1 pick for the Tennessee Titans.

“I know that it’s very hard to imagine a player playing both ways at the NFL level,” Yates said. “I also can’t recall a prospect quite like Travis Hunter, and a guy who I do believe has the capacity to end up being a top-five player and either as a wide receiver or a cornerback as well. The scouts love the kid, too.

“This is a guy who made it on the line for Colorado every single week. And that may sound just like talking noise, but it’s the truth,” he added.

The Titans are a QB-needy franchise since Will Lewis and Mason Rudolph had a poor 2024 season, and the team was placed 31st in terms of QBR.

But apart from a quarterback, the Titans have other issues that need to be fixed. The offense has been rusty and missed an impact-creating player; Hunter could prove to be a final solution.

“The Titans’ roster has a lot of holes,” an AFC personnel executive said per ESPN. “They need more than just a quarterback. I mean, who would Shedeur (Sanders) or Cam (Ward) throw to if they take them? They need help!” he added.

It will be an interesting decision for head coach Brian Callahan to make. Acquiring Hunter and picking a QB in free agency could be the most likely choice, but Ward and Sanders’ availability makes it an extremely hard bargain.
