The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback’s future has been in limbo for the past few months. With Russell Wilson heading to the New York Giants and Justin Fields heading to the New York Jets, Pittsburgh has one hope left in Aaron Rodgers—well, barring anything unforeseen comes up.
However, one of those unforeseen circumstances could be a big trade-up for Shedeur Sanders. It would take a lot to get it done, but if the Steelers were desperate, they could work something out. Regardless, who would you rather have, Rodgers or Sanders?

Pittsburgh’s QB Future in Limbo
According to College Sports Network, Sanders could drop to the No. 21 overall draft pick. While unlikely, Pittsburgh should be the team to stop the drop of the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback if he does.
Pittsburgh’s top three needs in this draft are simple: a defensive tackle, a running back, and a quarterback. Depending on how desperate Pittsburgh is for a quarterback, they could also make a big move to trade up to land Shedeur or even Jaxson Dart.
A high-floor quarterback in Sanders gives Pittsburgh precisely what they’re looking for. Sanders’s issues against pressure from the defense could keep Sanders on the board for longer than we think, especially if teams look at Chicago and see how much Caleb Williams struggled with the same issues.
Heading to the Steelers, Sanders would have a robust supporting cast, which includes a decent running game and a strong defense. This could make the transition easier for Sanders over a team like the New York Jets or Las Vegas Raiders.
The Steelers are still waiting on a decision from the surefire Hall-Of-Famer Rodgers. However, if history is any indication, Rodgers may not be Pittsburgh’s answer. Considering how poorly the Jets did, obtaining Rodgers may not be much of a prize.
So, this essentially leaves the Steelers with two options. Seeing Sanders drop to No. 21 overall would be amazing, but it is highly unlikely. However, a trade-up could easily be doable should they choose to. Otherwise, it’s a waiting game to hope Rodgers is the Steelers’ savior.

Beyond the quarterback position, the Steelers still must reload on the defensive line, with Larry Ogunjobi’s departure to test out the waters in free agency and Cam Heyward turning 36 in May, his age beginning to show. Pittsburgh also could be looking for help in its running game.
