Peyton Manning Reveals Hilarious Reason Why Arch Manning ‘Regrets’ Calling Him

Texas Longhorns will be led by Arch Manning in 2025. After sitting and playing backup to Quinn Ewers for two years, it’s finally time to see Manning in action on the field. Arch comes from a family with a rich football legacy. His grandfather, Archie Manning, is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Arch’s uncles, Eli Manning and Peyton Manning, have both won Super Bowls multiple times.

With that much football experience around him, one would assume Arch would love to often call all of these people to improve his game. However, Peyton thinks the young quarterback might be regretting doing so.

During an appearance on Pro Football Focus, Peyton explained the relationship he shares with his nephew.

“I leave a lot of voicemails and voice memos now,” Peyton said (10:58). “But I was, you know, having conversations with Eli, and I just, I wanted to help him. I wanted to give him every bit of knowledge that I had learned and pass it on. But I finally figured out, I said, ‘I might be better off just waiting until Eli calls me and says, “Hey, what do you see?”’ Right? And so I really tried to take that same approach with Arch. He’s my nephew, and he does call and reach out. And I think sometimes he probably regrets it.”

Peyton went on to state one example where he thinks Arch might have regretted checking up with him.

“Last spring, they had a two-minute drill that I think ended in a four-and-out situation. And then he kind of called me about my thoughts on the two-minute drill,” Peyton recounted.

“And I left him three 9-minute voice memos, you know, because in the first one I forgot to talk about, you know, kind of, you’ve got to avoid a sack, and you’ve got to get an explosive play. So I followed up with a second voice memo. So, you know, 27 minutes later, I think he’s like, ‘You know what, I love my Uncle Peyton… I’m not sure I want that much information’,” he added.

Peyton Manning credits Arch Manning’s father in Texas QB’s development

While Arch Manning’s father Cooper didn’t turn out to be quite a big name in football as his brothers did it seems his son will fill that hole. During the same segment, Peyton shared that Cooper has done great work in terms of developing and raising Arch while also adding that he’ll also be there for his nephew whenever needed.

“His dad, Cooper, has done a great job raising him. They’re very close,” Peyton said. “And I just want to be there to help and support him. He came out to Denver two years ago. We watched some film together, we threw together, and that was his idea, wanting to come to me. And that’s kind of how our relationship goes.”

It remains to be seen if Arch Manning can come anywhere closer to what his Hall of Fame uncles did in their career.
