Petition Targets FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff in College Football After Ohio State vs. Texas Time Announced

The FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff has become a staple in college football. Kicking off the festivities on Saturdays during the college football season, FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff has been getting the fun going, as they look it the game’s best days. However, one college football fan is fed up with the format of the show, and they are not the only one.

On Monday, the network began revealing kickoff times for some of the prominent games in the 2025 college football season. This includes the season opener between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Texas Longhorns. This will likely be a top-five showdown that has received the Big Noon treatment.

College Football Fans Revolt as Petition Slams FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff Format

A fan launched a petition to stop FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff after the network announced Ohio State vs Texas would air in the early slot. This means the game will kick off at noon EST, something Buckeyes fans know all too well.

The Buckeyes ended the 2024 season with six straight kickoffs at noon EST. This drew some very heated reactions from fans about the impact of the Big Noon Kickoff on the kickoff times.

With all of this in mind, an individual identified as “Buckeye Blitz” has started a petition on Change.org to “STOP FOX BIG NOON KICKOFF!” This is what the position says about the issue:

“FOX Big Noon Kickoff has been running marquee matchups for too long. Today, 5/12/25, FOX announced that Texas at Ohio State, the season-opener for both teams on August 30, will kick off at noon. This has gone too far. A top-five matchup should never kick off at noon.”

As of this writing, the petition has over 300 verified signatures. However, it’s unlikely that any number of signatures will convince FOX to change its current format.

Last season, FOX broadcaster Joel Klatt pushed back at the critics on the topic of the format. He told fans, “That’s the way the cookie crumbles,” dismissing their concerns. He told fans that this is the format that FOX has determined for the premier broadcasts that they own. Let’s maybe get used to it,” Klatt concluded to the critics.

Based on recent seasons, the system has been financially beneficial for FOX, especially as the network employed Michigan and Ohio State in the time slot throughout the national title runs in each of the past two seasons.

However, it doesn’t mean that the format is a long-term net positive for the college football experience, and many fans are still hoping for a change.
