College Football Network’s most recent mock draft projects a “slam dunk pick” for the New York Jets, despite many projections linking them with OTs like Armand Membou or Kelvin Banks Jr.
The Jets currently hold the seventh pick in this year’s Draft, after being led to a 5-12 season by Aaron Rodgers, who they made to decision to move on from this offseason. Could they select Penn State TE Tyler Warren to boost the offense now being led by QB Justin Fields?

Could Jets Eye TE Tyler Warren as Key Piece in Building Around QB Justin Fields?
In our most recent mock draft, College Football Network’s Max Dorsey discussed the possibility of Penn State’s Tyler Warren ending up in New York.
“The Jets signed Justin Fields in free agency and now need to surround him with talent if he is going to be the starter next season. There’s no better safety blanket and more consistent receiver in this draft class than Tyler Warren,” Dorsey writes.
While Warren is a fantastic route-runner and a versatile playmaker who can move the chains of the Jets’ offense, another important part of his game is his ability to be utilized as a lead blocker in the run game.
Currently, the Jets’ run game is led by Breece Hall, who rushed for 876 yards last season; however, Aaron Glenn could potentially switch to a more run-heavy offence to suit his new Quarterback, Justin Fields.
Fields has similar traits to Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts when it comes to running the ball. In his best season, with the Chicago Bears in 2022, Fields rushed for 1,143 yards, averaging 7 yards per carry.
Tyler Warren also acts as a potential receiver option for the Quarterback, with only Garrett Wilson and Allan Lazard acting as top receiver options. The Jets need someone for Fields to throw the ball to and an upgrade on their current tight end, Jeremy Ruckert.
“Warren can play in-line or flexed out wide. He is a fluid route runner and gets open consistently. ” Explained Dorsley, when discussing Warren’s traits as a receiver.
In a recent press conference, New York Jets General Manager Darren Mougey discussed the kind of player he was looking for in the Draft on Thursday.
“There’s a type of brand, I believe, there’s a type of brand that we want our players to play with. It’s a physicality, it’s a toughness, you’re going to feel it, but smart, tough, aggressive, resilient players.” Mougey explained.
In a recent discussion, NFL Network’s Lead Analyst Daniel Jeremiah explained how exactly Tyler Warren is the perfect type of player that the Jets GM is looking for.
Penn State Mock Draft Round Up: Where are Abdul Carter, Tyler Warren, and Others Headed?
“Warren is just a big, massive bully who is going to wall guys off down the field. Whereas I think Warren, you run him down the seam, you’re running on overs, doing those types of things,” Jeremiah explained. “And he’s just a bully when the ball is up in the air, and he’s a pain to get on the ground.”
We will find out whether our most recent mock draft is right, with the first round of the NFL Draft set to take place on April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
