Penn State Mock Draft Round Up: Where are Abdul Carter, Tyler Warren and Others Headed?

The Penn State Nittany Lions had a terrific 2024-25 season, winning two games in the College Football Playoff before falling in the semifinals. Their 13-3 record directly reflected a slew of players who will now hear their names called in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Who are those players — and what are we hearing regarding where they may land?

EDGE Abdul Carter Mock Draft Projections

    • CBS Sports: Round 1, Pick 3
    • USA Today: Round 1, Pick 4

Once considered the top pick, Carter has settled into the range of almost assuredly being the second, third, or fourth player drafted, depending on which team pulls the trigger on the Nittany Lions’ star edge rusher.

Carter registered 12 sacks in 2024-25 and is seen as an immediate difference-maker at the next level.

TE Tyler Warren Mock Draft Projections

    • CBS Sports: Round 1, Pick 7
    • Pro Football Network: Round 1, Pick 14

Warren projects as one of the most talented tight ends in recent years and is expected to hear his name called early in the first round. How early it will depend on the team’s needs, as tight ends aren’t typically a “best player available” type of selection.

The New York Jets at No. 7 and Indianapolis Colts at No. 14 are prime candidates to take the Nittany Lions star as they need tight end help — the issue for Warren is that difference could cost him millions of dollars.

S Kevin Winston Jr. Mock Draft Projections

    • Sports Illustrated: Round 3
    • Yahoo! Sports: Round 2

Winston only lasted two games in 2024 before he was injured and missed the entire season. Nonetheless, he showed himself as a rangy, big-bodied safety during his first two seasons with the Nittany Lions and projects as a late second or early third-round pick.

Winston is a potential hidden gem with first-round talent and could be a surprise playmaker from Day 1 for a team willing to take a chance on him.

LB Kobe King Mock Draft Projections

    • The Athletic: Round 5
    • CBS Sports: Round 7

King was a physical run defender for the Nittany Lions but lacked the raw athletic tools to cover at a high level. For those reasons, he’ll likely be a solid depth piece for a linebacking unit, selected in the mid-to-late Day 3 range.

    S Jaylen Reed

    • Sports Illustrated: Round 5
    • The Athletic: Round 6

Although not the fastest coverage safety, Reed excels near the line of scrimmage and combats the run from his position.
