Another new head coach for a team that fired its head coach earlier this season has been named, and it is James Madison head coach Bob Chesney. New reports have revealed that he will be serving as the new head coach for UCLA after the school fired head coach DeShaun Foster back in September. However, he would have to pick up the pieces after a disastrous season for the Bruins.

Several schools have tried to pick up Bob Chesney over the course of the season, most notably Penn State. He is the latest coach to accept another school’s offer over the Nittany Lions, which has yet to find itself a new head coach. This has gotten fans poking fun at Penn State’s expense, as their coaching search continues to come up short.
“Penn State fired Franklin and gonna end up hiring Brian Daboll,” one fan commented.
“Story that Penn State wanted him. But he didn’t want to get caught between AD Kraft and former players, many going back to the Paterno days, who wanted former player Terry Smith. And firing a coach who went to the Final Four didn’t help,” one person pointed out.
“Penn State trying to spin the 10th coach on their candidate list as “their guy” is going to be cinema,” another fan joked.
“So who is Penn St going to hire??? And when???,” asked another commenter.
Meanwhile, others were just happy that UCLA finally got a coach.
“Extremely rare UCLA W,” said one fan.
“Hopefully they invest financially so he can compete in the best conference in football,” one fan hoped.

Bob Chesney Expected To Continue Coaching James Madison Into The Playoffs If They Make It
When Lane Kiffin took the job at LSU, Ole Miss barred him from coaching the Rebels after making it to the College Football Playoffs. This will not be the case for Bob Chesney if ever the James Madison Dukes make it to the CFP should they win the Sun Belt conference title.
After leading the Dukes to an 11-1 season, the team will be taking on Troy for the Sun Belt championship game, with the winner moving on to the CFP. However, unlike Kiffin, Chesney will be the one coaching the team into the playoffs, whether he is leaving for UCLA or not.
His contract with UCLA will be formalized after the Sunbelt title game.
