College football analyst Paul Finebaum believes that the problems for the Georgia Bulldogs football program stem from offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Finebaum outlined how he was fond of head coach Kirby Smart; however, he also made clear that Smart’s loyalty to Bobo may be costing the Bulldogs success.

What Did Paul Finebaum Say About Kirby Smart and Georgia?
This year, the Bulldogs finished in second place in the SEC with an overall record of 11-3. The program had a successful season against fellow SEC opponents as well, going 6-2.
Those records were good enough for the program to qualify for the College Football Playoff as the No. 2 seed in the nation. However, the Bulldogs were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the tournament, losing 23-10 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Finebaum criticized the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator and explained his belief that there were much better coaches available who could bring more to the table than what Bobo currently was. Atlanta radio station “680 The Fan” posted a highlight of the statements on their X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

“I frankly believe Georgia’s problem is at the offensive coordinator position […] Kirby Smart for as great as I believe he is […] is being way too loyal to Mike Bobo and I would get rid of Bobo today […] I think you could walk down Peachtree Street and get a better offensive coordinator than Bobo,” Finebaum stated.
Georgia Bulldogs 2025 Outlook
As with most top college football programs, the Bulldogs are expected to lose various key players to the National Football League Draft later this year. In CSN’s 2025 NFL Draft Top 300 Big Board, nine Georgia players were included in the top 300.
CSN’s Big Board ranks each prospect purely on talent and does not consider individual team needs or positional value, something that generally tends to influence mock drafts and the NFL Draft.

Furthermore, the Bulldogs had three players listed within the top 20 prospects available: Safety Malaki Starks (No. 9), EDGE Mykel Williams (No. 11), and linebacker Jalon Walker (No. 20).
As a result, Smart and the Bulldogs will need to be active in recruiting and in the transfer portal to replace the key players likely moving to the NFL next year. While change is expected to take place this offseason, it is evident that Finebaum believes one of the first moves should be to replace Bobo as the program’s offensive coordinator.
