Paul Finebaum Gives Clear Verdict on Carson Beck’s Success Chances at Miami in 2025 CFB Season

Paul Finebaum thinks Carson Beck transferring to Miami is a major win for the Hurricanes in 2025.

The Miami Hurricanes have added a lot through the transfer portal this offseason, convincing college football analyst Paul Finebaum to predict big on them. The most important addition is bringing Carson Beck on board.

The former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback led the program to the College Football Playoff but an injury in the SEC Championship game led to him missing the playoffs. Beck initially declared for the draft but withdrew his name to move to Miami in 2025.

Paul Finebaum Highly Confident in Carson Beck’s Ability To Lead Miami to CFP

During a conversation with On3, Finebaum believes that the skills of Carson Beck are good enough for Miami to make the College Football Playoff next season.

The Hurricanes had Cam Ward under center in 2024. They finished third in the ACC, going 10-2 overall. They ended their season losing to Iowa State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Ward was a Heisman finalist and projected first-round pick, but Miami couldn’t make the playoffs.

However, with Beck, Finebaum has high hopes.

“I believe he does,” Finebaum told On3 if Miami can make the playoffs. “Carson Beck is a very good quarterback who, at times last year, really helped bail Georgia out. And I’m thinking of that Tennessee game in particular, that was do or die. I still like him.”

“He had so little to work with, the talent around him was so different than the year before, with [Brock] Bowers and [Ladd] McConkey, that he just never could adapt, and he just didn’t look happy. Maybe learning to drive a Lamborghini just really overwhelmed him.”

Under Beck, Georgia went 11-3 on the season with an SEC title to boast of. The QB threw 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with 3,485 passing yards.

“I don’t think it was a net plus for Georgia, but I think it was a big boost from Mario Cristobal, who I really believe has put a good program together down there,” Finebaum added. “I know it’s been slow, and it’s been awkward at times. They literally threw away a playoff bid last year against Syracuse. He will get it done down there, and I think Carson is the key element.”

The SEC analyst also said that it was “ill-advised” for Beck to enter the draft when he did. But he made the right call by withdrawing it as he now possesses a good chance to show himself in his final year of college.
