North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick’s stay in Chapel Hill is off to a horrible start both on and off the field. The team is 2-3 after six weeks and they have lost some easy games. Meanwhile, off the field, Belichick’s relationship with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson took the attention.
Now recently, rumors are starting to heat up that Belichick is negotiating a buyout to take up another job even though he is signed to a five-year deal with North Carolina.
Amid this, SEC analyst Paul Finebaum has put it bluntly on what he feels about Belichick’s immediate future with North Carolina.
“To me, he has checked out,” Finebaum said (1:30) on ESPN College Football. “The play on the field has checked out. His coaching has been abysmal, and I think Bill B. would be wise to walk out now before the humiliation gets any worse, only if it’s prolonged and he continues to be embarrassed on a weekly basis.”
According to the analyst, the head coach’s legacy will be remembered in a better way if he resigns now.
“I think if he walks out now, everybody just shakes their heads and goes, ‘Okay, he tried it. He couldn’t get an NFL job. He tried to get back in the league and it didn’t work,'” Finebaum added.
“But every time he stands up there and says something like he has repeatedly, it is just inane, stupid, and inappropriate. Whether it comes with one of his former players or a Patriot, it just gets worse,” he further remarked.

Paul Finebaum Calls Commitments Statements From Bill Belichick And UNC “Bogus And Meaningless”
Amid the buyout rumors, on Thursday, Bill Belichick and UNC came forward to reaffirm their commitments.
“I’m fully committed to UNC Football and the program we’re building here,” Belichick wrote on the Tar Heels’ X account.
North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham added:
“Coach Belichick has the full support of the Department of Athletics and University.”
Despite the reaffirmations, Finebaum finds them “bogus and meaningless.”
“”First of all, I felt those statements were completely and totally bogus,” Finebaum said. “If you’re going to make a declarative statement, make it. Don’t just issue a meaningless piece of paper, which is what Belichick did. It feels to me like it is over. I think his behavior is indicative of that.”
Finebaum highlighted that if the statements were true why would the former Patriots coach take a vacation in the middle of the bye week.
It remains to be seen if buyout rumors between Belichick and UNC are true.
