The Nebraska Cornhuskers opened their season with a bang. Dylan Raiola secured his team’s victory with a spectacular performance, the only problem was that Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes didn’t stick around to witness it.
Nebraska’s first game against the Cincinnati Bearcats had major star power in attendance. Other than the Mahomes, Travis Kelce and his fiancée, Taylor Swift, were also spotted at the stadium as Raiola pulled off a memorable performance.
He went 33/42 on passes, 243 yards and had two touchdowns. The 20-year-old is already being compared to the Chiefs quarterback. The comparisons are being drawn because of the similarity in appearance between the two players.
However, Bleacher Report posted a clip of Mahomes exiting the building before Raiola won the game for his team. But before things got out of hand and fans could draw up their own conclusions, Mahomes intervened and dropped the hilarious reason why the couple had to leave.
“Got to wake up with the kids in the morning my bad 😂😂,” Mahomes commented on the post.

For Raiola, who is in his second year with the Cornhuskers, being compared to Mahomes is a win-win situation. It brings more attention to him while possibly creating opportunities for him to cash out. The 20-year-old is aware of the reasons why he’s being compared to the three-time Super Bowl champ.
“Everybody be like, ‘Oh, he wants to be like him,’ and all this stuff,” Raiola said on CBS Sports Confidential Conversations. “It just so happens he played baseball, I played baseball. He plays quarterback, I play quarterback … I can’t get mad at God for making me look like him.”

While Raiola is open to the compliments coming his way, he wants to carve out his own path. Being labeled “Mini-Mahomes” for the rest of his career can be disastrous and he understands it very well.

Fans Had a Field Day With the Clip of Patrick Mahomes Leaving the Stadium
Even though Mahomes’ comment on the post can be dubbed as damage control, those things are rarely effective on social media, especially if you’re late to the party. It took Mahomes an hour to leave the comment under BR’s post, and that was enough for fans to have fun at his expense.
One fan posted a GIF of Stan from Eminem’s 2000 classic song ‘Stan’ where the character writes an angry letter to his hero.
Another fan posted a GIF of Buddy from Incredible tearing down the poster of Mr. Incredible in anger.
Some of the comments came from people who understood that Mahomes has a life outside of football.
“Bro, he didn’t go to either of the schools and still took time out to come check out the game. Thats all you can ask for – that man could have been doing a lot of other things besides attending a Nebraska/Cinch game – Respectfully,” a fan wrote.
“They got like 3 little ones now I get it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂,” a fan wrote.
“Why Is Someone Leaving A Game Being Posted? People will do anything for a click & some views😂,” a fan wrote.
“Yall reaching now…” a fan wrote.

Raiola led the Cornhuskers to a 20-17 victory in the season opener. Although it was far from a perfect game for Nebraska, Raiola ensured his team walked away with a win from Kansas City.
