With the announcement of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis picking the Georgia Bulldogs over the Oregon Ducks, head coach Dan Lanning and his staff are pivoting towards another five-star passer.

Oregon Eyes 5-Star Quarterback After Jared Curtis Chooses Georgia
It wasn’t ideal when Curtis chose Georgia instead of Oregon during his commitment announcement yesterday — but the Ducks will have to move on and target another prospect.
Ryder Lyons will be that guy, another five-star QB. Out of Folson High School in California, the 6’2″, 215-pounder was rated at a 60% confidence level that he’d end up with the Ducks, per On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

While that’s not a sure thing, he has visited Eugene as he showed on his social media accounts. He has an official visit scheduled for June 13, where Lanning and his staff will hope to woo him into a commitment soon enough.
And it would make sense for Lyons — Oregon doesn’t have a QB commit in the 2026 class and also doesn’t have a passer in-waiting once projected starter Dante Moore departs after either the 2027 or 2028 season.
It would be a major get for Oregon, as Lyons has established himself as hands-down one of the top QBs in his class after leading Folson to a 13-2 record in his first year as a starter.
During that time, he completed 68% of his passes for 3,578 yards with 38 touchdowns and only eight interceptions. He also impacted the game on the ground, carrying the ball 226 times for 929 yards and another 23 touchdowns.
Along with Oregon, Lyons also has official visits set up with the USC Trojans (June 6) and BYU Cougars (June 19). His offers include nearly every Power 4 team in the country.

A surprise competitor to the Ducks could be Sacramento State, as they and Lyons expressed interest in each other. The door may be closed on that however, as they welcomed former four-star prospect, QB Jaden Rashada for the foreseeable future.
With the rising belief of Lyons’ interest, Oregon will hope to lock down his commitment sooner rather than later.
