Oregon’s 2025 Momentum Takes a Hit After Kodi Greene Flip, Jackson Cantwell Gives Hope

The most exciting part of the college football season is the first week of games. It can be argued that the next most exciting is off-season recruiting.

Similar to the NFL draft, everyone feels they are on an even playing field, with a chance to make a significant change to their program. Oregon is no different and has been a powerhouse program, especially in recent memory.

Oregon Ducks Eye Five-Star OT Jackson Cantwell After Kodi Greene Flip

Last season, the Ducks went 13-0 before losing to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. They also have a strong pipeline for any athlete aspiring to play in the NFL.

All this can come back to their strong recruitment process. Five-star offensive tackle recruit Kodi Greene, who played his high school ball at Mater Dei, was one of the new names expected to play for the Ducks in the upcoming season. However, in a whirlwind of events, Greene ended up flipping his commitment and chose to play for Washington instead.

Greene was committed to Oregon since Aug. 12, but Greene announced on social media he’s heading to play with the Huskies.

Instead of falling flat, the Ducks got right back to work and have their eyes on another five-star offensive tackle recruit, Jackson Cantwell.

Cantwell is considered the top prospect for the 2026 class, and signs are pointing towards Cantwell landing with the Ducks.

    “Oregon’s a good program. Oregon’s a winner,” said Cantwell.

Cantwell is a multi-sport athlete who is a two-time Missouri Class 5A state champion in the shot put. Cantwell also took first in the event at the Nike Outdoor Nationals 2024 and was the 2023-24 Gatorade Missouri Boys Track and Field Player of the Year.

Cantwell has rescheduled his commitment date multiple times, and although there is hope that he will end up with the Ducks, Georgia has been making a strong push to claim Cantwell. Cantwell has changed his commitment date from April 30 to May 13 and plans to visit the Bulldogs during that time.
