Dan Lanning’s Oregon in Driver’s Seat for Top 2026 LB and More After Star-Studded 5-Star Visit Weekend

Official visit season for the 2026 class is here, and it’s one of the most important windows in college football recruiting.

The opportunity to get some of the best players in the country on campus can make or break a recruiting battle for any program, and Dan Lanning is making the most of it for the Oregon Ducks.

Multiple Five Stars on Campus This Weekend for the Oregon Ducks and Dan Lanning

Oregon is in the midst of a star-studded official visit this weekend as the Ducks have multiple five-stars on campus in Eugene.

The Ducks’ OV weekend is headlined by Tyler Atkinson, a five-star linebacker who On3 has ranked as the number one linebacker in the entire country.

On the On3 recruits YouTube channel, insider Steve Wiltfong gave his opinion on where Oregon stands on Atkinson’s recruiting battle, saying, “The Ducks are in the thick of it to sign the Loganville-Grayson five-star. He loves Dan Lanning; Lanning’s been recruiting him since the eighth grade.”

Richard Wesley is also on campus for Oregon this weekend, who is a five-star defensive end who recently decommitted from the Ducks.

Despite the decommitment, Wiltfong still thinks Oregon could land him, saying, “Well, Oregon is going to have to battle to land Richard Wesley, but I still think they’re the program to beat. This will be his sixth time on campus.”

Finally, the Ducks have five-star Brandon Arrington on campus, whom On3 has rated as the number one cornerback in the 2026 class.

While Wiltfong explained that Texas A&M is the favorite to land Arrington, he thinks that Oregon could make a push with this OV saying, “There have been times where Oregon has looked like number one, they may be the biggest threat right now to Texas A&M, and similar to Tyler Atkinson it will be interesting to see what we’re saying about Oregon’s position for Brandon Arrington coming out of his official visit, I have a feeling that they’re going to really move the needle.”

On top of those three five-stars, the Ducks also have two more top 50 recruits in four-star wide receiver Calvin Russell and five-star safety Joey O’Brien.

As Wiltfong said, by tomorrow, Oregon’s 2026 class could look a lot different and very scary. It’s certainly not guaranteed that the Ducks will receive commitments from any of these players, but OVs are historically the spot where players will decide to commit.
