Oregon Ducks wide receiver Evan Stewart, one of the team’s most electric playmakers, is facing a major setback just months ahead of the 2025 season. A reported knee injury could sideline the standout pass catcher and alter the trajectory of Oregon’s offense.
Stewart, a senior with NFL aspirations, took to social media to address fans and share an encouraging update. He issued a simple but powerful statement after news of his significant injury broke.
With uncertainty surrounding his return, Oregon must reassess its wide receiver depth heading into fall camp.
Evan Stewart’s Message Shows Resilience to Oregon Ducks’ Faithful
Fans of Oregon football were shocked as it was reported that star wide receiver Stewart suffered a significant injury involving his knee, which could impact his availability for the 2025 season.
On June 7, Stewart thanked fans for their support and sent a powerful message. This upcoming season was to be his final year of eligibility.
“Thank you for all the well wishes, I’m on the road to recovery,” Stewart wrote in a social media post on X. “Don’t put a timeline on me. Following Gods Plan! Thank you for the prayers!~ 7 be back soon!”

According to sources who informed The Oregonian and OregonLive, the injury reportedly occurred earlier in the week, and it’s feared that it is a rupture of the patellar tendon. There are no reports on how the injury occurred, but Stewart missed the official spring game and practices before the news broke on June 6.
At 6’5″ and 175 pounds, Stewart was seen as the Ducks’ leading returning receiver. During the 2024 season, he snagged 48 passes for 613 yards and five touchdowns. He made 12 starts in 13 games and recorded two 100-yard performances against Boise State on Sept. 7 and No. 2 Ohio State on Oct. 12.
Stewart didn’t play in the Ducks’ 41-21 loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl of the CFP Quarterfinals on Jan. 1, 2025, dealing with a lower back injury. It has not been determined if he’ll request a medical redshirt and return for 2026.

The news is something for Dan Lanning and the Ducks to monitor. The team looks to regroup with 10 scholarship receivers, including sixth-year senior Gary Bryant Jr. and fourth-year junior Kyler Kasper, returning from injuries suffered last season.
Malik Benson also joins the receiver group. Top-ranked freshman Dakorien Moore is joining the team, as he ranked as the top receiver in the 2025 transfer portal class.
