The Oregon Ducks had a great 2024 season with Dillon Gabriel as their quarterback. Gabriel performed at a high level, finishing the season as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
However, after Gabriel declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, the team will have Dante Moore as their starter next season.

Josh Pate Has Dante Moore on Par With Texas QB Arch Manning as a Breakout Candidate
Josh Pate released an episode of ‘Josh Pate’s College Football Show’ on Friday. In the episode, he was asked if he thinks Arch Manning is the clear QB breakout candidate for next season. Pate agreed, saying that Manning should have a big breakout season.
However, he mentioned that he thinks Moore should be part of the conversation with Manning.
“I think Dante Moore has a spot in this conversation,” Pate said. “That’s the starting QB for Oregon this year. Remember, he went to UCLA, he played as a freshman, then he transferred, then he sat last year. That will be so valuable for him.
“You can do this thing called learning and developing even if you aren’t playing every snap of every game. Will Stein who’s the offensive coordinator up there is a good dude to learn under. Anyone who’s watched Oregon practice has spoken pretty glowingly about Dante Moore. Oregon overall is just a reload program so I have all the confidence in the world he’ll be surrounded by the right guys.”
Moore began his career in 2023 and started a majority of his games with the UCLA Bruins. He completed 114 of 213 passing attempts for 1610 yards and 11 TDs.
However, Moore opted to transfer to a more prestigious program in Oregon in 2024 and move to a backup role. While backing up Gabriel, he appeared in four games, completing seven of eight passing attempts for 49 yards.

Pate believes that this time spent focused on developing rather than playing will be valuable for Moore in the long run, as he is now poised to be Oregon’s starter in 2025.
