Ole Miss vs. Tulane Opt-Outs and Injury Report: Top Players Not Participating in College Football Playoffs

Ole Miss and Tulane are facing off in the first round of the College Football Playoffs, with both teams losing their head coaches already. However, while the University of Mississippi has not allowed Lane Kiffin to coach Ole Miss in the playoffs, newly-minted Florida head coach Jon Sumrall will be at the helm of one of the most surprising teams this season, Tulane.

While Kiffin’s exit from Ole Miss has caused much chaos within the team, the Rebels have assured fans they have remained focused, even without their now-former head coach. Meanwhile, Tulane will be seeking an upset, with Sumrall seeking to end his tenure at the school with a bang. The question now is, which players will be missing in action due to injury or have opted out of the game?

Ole Miss vs. Tulane Opt-Outs and Injury Report

    Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels are coming into the game with very few injured players, and they also do not have any players who have opted out of the game, with no Ole Miss players declaring for the transfer portal yet. The biggest missing piece in their lineup is, of course, Lane Kiffin himself, who the school has not allowed to coach the team after he chose to coach LSU instead of Ole Miss, with Kiffin already reportedly trying to recruit some of his old players.

Coming into this contest, the Lane Kiffin drama is still lingering, and their opponents may be able to pull off the upset should this chaos from within linger.

    • Lane Kiffin, Head Coach – barred from coaching the team by the school
    • Cedrick Beavers, Corner Back – injury
    • Raymond Collins, Linebacker- injury
    • Antonio Kite, Corner Back – injury

    Tulane Green Wave

Tulane will definitely be the underdog here, as the Green Wave are the lowest-ranked team in the CFP. They also have more injuries and one opt-out coming into this first-round showdown, though they do still have Jon Sumrall coaching them before he leaves for Florida. Despite this, the Green Wave have a lot more momentum and seems more stable, with their opponents still undergoing some chaos because of Lane Kiffin’s departure.

    • TJ Finley Quarterback – Opted Out, Transfer Portal
    • Dickson Agu Linebacker – injury
    • Bryce Bohanon Wide Receiver – injury
    • Gerrod Henderson Defensive Lineman – injury
    • Jayden Lewis Defensive Back- injury
    • LeRon Husbands Tight End – injury
    • Ty Thompson Tight End – injury
