The Ole Miss and LSU saga is officially just starting. Lane Kiffin will be taking his talents up to Baton Rouge. While Rebel fans are quite outraged, they have an upcoming playoff game to worry about. While it isn’t looking the brightest in Oxford, it certainly will be helpful when keeping players from the transfer portal. Although when the Rebel season is over, these would be the players who are more likely to leave and head to LSU.

Players Set to Follow Lane Kiffin
Austin Simmons, Quarterback
Two things stand out in Baton Rouge. One, LSU is missing a QB right now. They need one, and in Oxford there are two. The quarterback following a coach method has been proven to work, and Simmons would be someone Kiffin is definitely trying to grab.
Caleb Cunningham, Wide Receiver
Cunningham also fits the mold for a transfer player. He wasn’t able to get on the field much last year and had a connection with Kiffin that brought him to Ole Miss. LSU lacks the right people at receiver for Cunningham to get some attention. It could pay off for Cunningham to follow his coach.
Kewan Lacy, Running Back
Lacy is a bit more of a reach on this list, but the connection to Kiffin is strong. He is having a great year, which has been largely thanks to Kiffin. Another year at LSU likely wouldn’t hurt Lacy either. LSU could definitely use an improved run game after struggling in 2025.
Delano Townsend, Left Guard
Between Sanders and Townsend as offensive linemen who could follow Kiffin. The issue is that Brycen Sanders was quite vocal on X for the new Ole Miss Head Coach, Coach Golding. Therefore, Townsend becomes the next best option for Kiffin. The young guard has plenty of eligibility and room to grow. The Tigers’ offensive line has been rough as well. Kiffin certainly will try to fix that in the portal.
Bottom Line
Kiffin is probably going to grab some players from Ole Miss. It happened with Oklahoma and Lincoln Riley, and it is probably going to happen again. Defensive players will be harder to get with Coach Golding committing to the program. Most of those players will probably stay with their new coach. On the offensive side, most of the receivers are older, and so is most of the offensive line. Kiffin could go for the younger players, and Rebel fans will be hoping he doesn’t take much.
