Ole Miss QB Austin Simmons Drops 1-Word Comment As 3-Star IOL Joins Lane Kiffin’s Crew

Quarterback Austin Simmons is slated to take over the starting job for Jaxson Dart at Ole Miss next season. Dart will not be back after being selected by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. Simmons is relatively inexperienced, having only completed 19 of 32 passes for 282 yards and two TDs as a freshman.

Despite his limited experience, Simmons appears to be stepping into a leadership role on the Rebels. On Monday, three-star interior offensive lineman Ryan Miret confirmed on Instagram that he is committed to join head coach Lane Kiffin’s crew as part of the 2026 recruiting class. On Tuesday, Simmons shared the post with a one-word response, welcoming his future teammate.

    “Cribbbbbb,” Simmons wrote.

Ryan Miret is joining a 2026 recruiting class that is already looking strong for Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. According to On3, the team has the No. 20-ranked class. There is still plenty of time for Kiffin to improve its class but adding Miret should help.

Ryan Miret speaks about his decision to join Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels

Following his official visit, Ryan Miret announced on Monday that he is committing to the Ole Miss Rebels. On Sunday, shortly before making his commitment, Miret spoke with On3 about his experience visiting Ole Miss and meeting with Lane Kiffin and the rest of the coaching staff.

“Overall, I was extremely impressed with Ole Miss’s official visit,” Miret said. “What stood out to me was how superior their offensive staff was as far as their resumes and NFL experience. Coach Kiffin was excited to have me on campus and would love for me to be part of the team.

“Not only did I grow my relationship with coach Garrison, but I also got to further my relationship with the assistant o-line coaches as well. It was also great to spend time with Coach (Kevin) Smith. Coach Garrison has a great plan for me to potentially start at center in the next two years as they do not have a true center right now. I feel great to have the opportunity to potentially compete for a starting job on my second year.”

Starting as a sophomore would be a great trajectory for Miret who is a three-star recruit entering his senior year of high school. According to On3, he is the No. 44-ranked interior offensive lineman in the nation and No. 81-ranked player in Florida.
