Lane Kiffin successfully shook up the entire college football world when he decided to ditch his Ole Miss team in the middle of its historic Playoff run and went to accept the $91M, 6-year deal at LSU.
The ex-Ole Miss head coach left the Rebels after their Egg Bowl showdown and took many staff members with him to LSU, including OC and play-caller, Charlie Weis Jr. However, while Kiffin was denied his request to coach his ex-team and then leave, the others were allowed to come back and finish the CFP run.
While it was expected of the Rebels to grab a win over Tulane in the college football playoff round one, their round two win over Georgia in a 39-34 game surprized everyone.
Talking about whether the Rebels would’ve made it to the College Football Playoffs Semi-Finals with Lane Kiffin, Paul Finebaum said:
“I’m just going to say it. I don’t think Lane Kiffin could have coached that team to a win over Georgia on Thursday night. Matt, being down in New Orleans running, and I’m talking more about Ole Miss fans and I realize they don’t play, but the Ole Miss people that I ran into were so angry and so motivated, and I’ve talked to people who dealt with the players as well, and similar stories were coming from them. Uh, you know, for all of the nonsense that we heard from Lane Kiffin, it has been refuted at every level. A lot of it publicly, all of it privately, by Ole Miss people.” (4:00)

Paul Finebaum Claims Lane Kiffin Looked “Like a Fool” After Sugar Bowl Win
Paul Finebaum has openly thrashed Lane Kiffin various times since his controversial LSU move and didn’t shy away from taking a jab at him again after the thrilling Sugar Bowl win for Ole Miss.
After the Rebels stunned everybody with their win in the CFP quarter finals, Paul Finebaum bluntly said that Kiffin looked like a complete fool in the whole scenario, as he was rumored to be in attendance for the game but decided to change his plans and watch the LSU women’s basketball game instead, as reportedly no one at Ole Miss wanted him there.
“I don’t know who finally said, ‘Lane, you’re not welcome. We don’t want you around,’ but I don’t think anybody wanted him around to let him do what he did on Saturday, going on TV (for LSU’s Texas Bowl matchup against Houston). That’s what Lane Kiffin wanted. He wanted the exposure. He ends up going to a women’s basketball game in Baton Rouge so he can make SportsCenter this morning.” Finebaum said.
Ole Miss will now face Miami in the CFP Semifinals on Thursday.
