The Fiesta Bowl matchup between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Miami Hurricanes is underway in Glendale, Arizona. The semifinal game between two teams that no one thought would come so far has become the center of attention.
Both teams had their fair share of ups and downs during the regular season. While Miami suffered during games and with injuries, the Rebels went through a traumatic experience of seeing their coach leave for LSU.
Despite that, both teams have made it to the semifinals, and the stage is set for a cutthroat matchup. In addition to the thrill of the game, both teams have added another layer of excitement by putting their notable alumni into the game.
ESPN’s Andrea Adelson reported that the Miami Hurricanes have made Ray Lewis and Edgerrin James the honorary Hurricanes captains for the matchup. Ole Miss, on the other hand, has extended this honor to Eli Manning and Patrick Willis.
When the honorary captains came out for the coin toss, they received a warm welcome with loud cheers from their respective fanbases. This just goes on to show what this game truly means to both the programs.
It’s also an indicator of the NFL star power that both programs have developed over the years. The legendary Michael Irvin, who played for the Miami Hurricanes from 1894 to 1987 and is a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Dallas Cowboys, is also in attendance.
Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Cam Ward, Greg Olsen, Jonathan Vilma, Gino Torretta, and others have also been spotted at the Fiesta Bowl so far. This is arguably one of the most star-studded affairs we’ve seen so far this season.

How Much Money will Lane Kiffin Make if the Rebels Win Tonight?
Kiffin might’ve left Ole Miss for the LSU Tigers, but he’s still making money with every Rebels win. There’s no doubt that the team was built from scratch by the former head coach of the Rebels. From players to coaching staff, Kiffin made the Rebels a great team this season.
That’s why when he left for LSU, he ensured to get paid with their success. Kiffin’s LSU contract has clauses that guarantee him money with the Rebels for every postseason win. So far, he has made $500k as they’ve reached the semifinals.
If the Rebels win today, Kiffin will get an additional $250k. A national title win by the Rebels will guarantee Kiffin a million-dollar payout from the LSU Tigers. This is all a part of his seven-year, $91 million deal with the Tigers.
