We’re only days away from the Sugar Bowl matchup between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Georgia Bulldogs. Now, the roster availability for both teams has started to take shape, and so far, the Rebels are in a better position.
Recently, ESPN’s Pete Thamel posted an updated injury report for the Bowl game. The Rebels look more complete as of now when compared to the Bulldogs. If the situation remains unchanged, it’ll be a major boost for Ole Miss.
Here’s an updated list:
Ole Miss Rebels
OUT:
- CB Cedrick Beavers
- OL John Wayne Oliver
DOUBTFUL:
- LB Raymond Collins
QUESTIONABLE:
- TE Caleb Odom
PROBABLE:
- RB Kewan Lacy
- TE Dae’Quan Wright
Lacy being on the probable list might be concerning for the Rebels, but these situations often end up in the team’s favor. His status is likely to improve in the next few days, and he will be taken off the injury report.
As for the questionable and doubtful list, that leads to being a game-time decision and often ends up declaring the players healthy and ready for the game. The same can’t be said about Georgia and their list on the injury report.
Georgia Bulldogs
OUT:
- OLB Gabe Harris Jr.
- DB Joenel Aguero
- DB Kyron Jones
- DL Jordan Hall
- OL Drew Bobo
PROBABLE:
- WR Colbie Young
- TE Ethan Barbour

Losing Drew Bobo is a massive blow for the Bulldogs. In total, they have five players listed as ‘out,’ and that will significantly thin their roster in a very important game.
Ole Miss and Georgia have the same overall and conference record. It was expected to be a tense matchup between two equal teams, but player availability might flip things in favor of the Rebels.

Ole Miss Has Something to Prove in the Sugar Bowl
In the grand scheme of things, this matchup will guarantee a semifinal spot in the College Football Playoff for the winner. That is what the Bulldogs and the Rebels will be fighting for.
The Rebels will also be trying to prove that Lane Kiffin’s departure from Oxford hasn’t derailed their season. They have played one game after he left, where they destroyed Tulane, but doing the same against Georgia will be their real test.
Pete Golding has taken over the head coaching responsibilities, and the team under him has looked confident so far. The game will be played on January 1st at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
