The annual Red River Rivalry game will now be part of the SEC conference play and even Okalhoma’s non-conference schedule includes some big-name teams. There’s Power Five (Big 12) Houston Cougars and AAC power Tulane rounding out a difficult schedule, at least on paper.
Oklahoma last defeated LSU back in 1950, when the teams first met, and they’ve only met twice since then, both LSU wins, including their National Championship winning season of 2019. Missouri has been largely dominated by Oklahoma, dating back to their in-conference days, as the Sooners own a 67-24-5 series advantage over Mizzou.
As far as Auburn, Oklahoma has won both meetings with the Tigers from Jordan-Hare in 1972 and 2017.
For the first time since 1991, the SEC will not feature divisions in the conference. The top two teams will square off at the end of the year in the SEC Championship Game to culminate the season. With Oklahoma and Texas in the conference this season, the 2024 campaign truly means more.
