Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka Stats, Height, Weight, Profile Details

Standing at 6’1″ and 205 pounds, Egbuka hails from Steilacoom High School in DuPont, Washington. A less-than-coveted area for recruiting, Egbuka took the nation by storm when he won the Washington Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior, catching 25 touchdowns and 2,240 all-purpose yards in 2019.

Egbuka has dominated when he’s been healthy at Ohio State all the same. After flashing with 191 yards as a true freshman, Egbuka’s sophomore season put him on the map. That year, he hauled in 74 catches for 1,151 yards and 10 touchdowns.

To date in 2024, Egbuka has been back to his dominant self after an injury-riddled 2023 season saw him quietly produce 515 yards. His career stats to date:

    Receptions: 154
    Yards: 2,290
    Average: 14.9
    TD: 19
    Long: 85

Emeka Egbuka 247, High School Recruiting Profile

Though he hailed from an area not routinely known for its recruiting prowess, Egbuka put the Steilacoom, DuPont, and Seattle suburbs on the map with his play. He finished the class of 2021 as the second-best player from the state of Washington, the No. 1 overall wide receiver, and the No. 9 player overall on the 247 Sports Composite.

Egbuka only trailed his future teammate J.T. Tuimoloau in his home state on the consensus.

A consensus five-star recruit, Egbuka had offers to just about every Power school in the country but chose Ohio State over Alabama, Texas, in-state Washington, and others.

Who Does Egbuka’s Play Compare To?

It’s hard not to compare Egbuka a bit to a former teammate and current New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave. They were recruited by the same staff and to fill the same role, after all.

But in actuality, at his best, Egbuka’s game more resembles that of current Houston Texans WR Stefon Diggs. Even not at his best, Egbuka’s game also looks just like former Miami Hurricane WR Santana Moss.

There are certainly other players that come to mind when Egbuka takes the field (Tyler Boyd, Michael Thomas, JuJu Smith-Schuster), but at his best, Egbuka can provide a clear picture as a potential No. 1 WR for any NFL franchise.

How Fast Does Emeka Egbuka Run the 40?

Coming out of high school, Egbuka was tracked with a 4.42-second 40-yard dash time. However, after his time in Columbus, he’s improved that.

According to the Ohio State Junior Day run during their Pro Day, Egbuka was clocked at 4.30 in the 40.

Egbuka’s 4.30 40-yard dash time would have ranked him second, behind only Texas WR Xavier Worthy, who broke the Combine record at 4.21.
