Ahead of their matchup against the Oregon Ducks, the Ohio State Buckeyes official X (formerly known as Twitter) account announced that the football program had achieved a record attendance figure this year. The games included in this statistic were the nine regular season and one College Football Playoff home game at the iconic Ohio Stadium, also known as “The Shoe.”
The Buckeyes enjoyed a strong regular season, finishing with an 11-2 record and fourth in the Big Ten conference. This earned the program the No. 8 seed in the nation in the College Football Playoff. After defeating the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round, the Buckeyes will take on the No. 1-seeded Ducks, whom they already lost to earlier this season, in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
What Did Ohio State Post About the Record Attendance?
Ohio State’s official social media page confirmed that the 2024 year saw a record number of fans watch the Buckeyes live at Ohio Stadium. The picture in the post features a photo of the full stadium along with the statement:
“Buckeye Bits — Ohio State played in front of a record number of fans at Ohio Stadium in 2024. The nine-game home slate, including the Dec. 21 CFP first-round victory over Tennessee, drew 936,550 fans into The Shoe.”

Ohio State-Oregon Rose Bowl Preview
As previously mentioned, the Buckeyes were defeated by the Ducks 32-31 in a shootout thriller. There’s no question that the stakes are higher in this CFP matchup than it was this past October. With stars and top NFL prospects on both sides of the ball, the matchup projects to be an extremely close and exciting one.
One of the most important matchups will be whether Ducks defensive tackle Derrick Harmon can stop Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard. In College Football Network’s latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Harmon was projected to be selected No. 40 overall by the Chicago Bears.

Howard, on the other hand, was selected to head to the Dallas Cowboys with the 171st pick. Ohio State had 13 total players selected compared to the Ducks’ 14.
In the previous matchup, Howard still threw for 326 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Harmon had three solo tackles of his own.
