Julian Sayin, who initially committed to Nick Saban’s Alabama in November 2022 and jumped to the transfer portal after the ex Crimson Tide head coach announced his decision to retire, joined Ohio State shortly after.
Sayin was the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, and is now ready to take the reins of the Ohio State Buckeyes in his hands for the 2025 college football season.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced on Monday that the program has chosen Juian Sayin over Lincoln Kienholz for the starting quarterback job this year.
Day said that Sayin has separated himself with his play over the last week and was better in terms of taking care of the ball and consistency.
He further added even though Sayin is getting the job initially, there’s still opportunity for Kienholz to earn the role as he knows he’s going to play this year and is not feeling discouraged.

Paul Finebaum Makes Brutal Ohio State vs Texas Prediction
Julian Sayin led Ohio State is set to take on Arch Manning’s Texas in a season opener matchup on 30th August in Columbus.
While many analysts place their bet on Ryan Day’s team to continue their natty momentum and secure the win against the Longhorns, Paul Finebaum doesn’t seem to think so.
During an appearance on ESPN on Jul. 11, Finebaum said that he believes Texas is definitely beating Texas because of the skill set Arch Manning brings to the table.
“The Manning name matters, but it isn’t going to matter on that field in a couple of weeks at Ohio State. The experience of being an understudy to Ewers and understanding Sark’s system is what’s going to get them over the top and probably — well, not probably — definitely beat Ohio State in the opener.” Finebaum said.
Arch Manning has spent the last two years on the bench behind Quinn Ewers and is now ready to take the centre stage as Longhorns’ QB1.
