There’s an intake of new teams entering the Big Ten alongside the existing programs and there’s an abolition of divisions that have created a new scheduling policy. How does that impact the Ohio State Buckeyes?

Under the terms of the Big Ten’s new football scheduling policy, accounting for 18 total teams from the 2024 season onwards, Ohio State will face the other teams within the conference at least twice but with a maximum of three matchups within the next five years.
However, there is an exception. “The Game” rivalry with Michigan falls under a “protected rivalry” agreement which ensures that one of the greatest games in college football history will remain as an annual fixture on the Ohio State schedule.

In the first year, Ohio State faces just one of the newcomers to the conference with a trip to the Oregon Ducks at a date to be announced. The Buckeyes are 9-1 against the Pac-12 convert, with Oregon’s lone win coming in Columbus during the 2021 college football season.
Three of the matchups have occurred in the post-season, leaving seven previous regular season games.
As you can see from the list above, Ohio State receives a serious home-field advantage on their 2024 schedule. The Buckeyes have eight games in Columbus in the 2024 college football campaign, with their remaining schedule made up of games on the road at Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, and the Oregon game discussed earlier.
