Chad Ochocinco Mocks Browns’ QB History in Furious Reaction to Shedeur Sanders Snub For Dillon Gabriel

The Cleveland Browns have had a quarterbacks galore over the last two decades. Some of the best exponents of the game, at the college level, have taken over starting duties for the Cleveland franchise.

Colt McCoy, Johnny Manziel, RGIII, Baker Mayfield, DeShaun Watson, and Jameis Winston are some of the top college players who have taken over the signal-caller role for the Browns. Yet none of them have been successful with the franchise.

Now we have to add Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders to the list of highly rated quarterbacks to join the franchise. However, reports from the Browns’ preseason training camp are that things seem to be repeating again, with all the new signal-callers failing to adapt to their new team.

This is what Chad Ochocinco got into in the latest episode of “Nightcap”, with the former NFL wide receiver particularly bothered by the Browns’ decision to prioritize Dillon Gabriel over Shedeur Sanders:

“What are the Browns doing? I don’t know what they’re doing. We don’t know what they’ve done the last 35. Do they know? Are we sure they know what they’re doing? They don’t. Have they known what they’re doing since that franchise has been established? (2:29)

“Have they figured it out yet? Because the last good quarterback, no disrespect to the quarterbacks that have played for the Cleveland Brown, the last one that has been of of of decency has been Bernie Kosar if I’m not mistaken. Yeah, that’s in mid 80s though. Who? There you go. There you go. That’s no disrespect to any of the quarterbacks that have played there, but it is what it is.”

However, this isn’t as surprising. Gabriel was considered a third-round prospect by the Browns, while Sanders is a fifth-round pick. The Browns’ decision to prioritize the former Oregon quarterback only confirms their higher valuation of him. An opinion shared by the rest of the NFL, based on how all franchises allowed Sanders to drop as far as he did in the draft.

Dillon Gabriel is limited due to hamstring soreness on Day 10 of Cleveland Browns’ training camp

What’s surprising is that Dillon Gabriel is taking priority over all other quarterbacks in working with the first team offense, even over veteran Joe Flacco. This is mainly because Kenny Pickett has been dealing with a hamstring injury. However, he has performed badly over that period.

According to analyst Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan, this has been a poor decision by the franchise because it sets first-round expectations on a third-round pick. Nonetheless, this seems to be at an end as Gabriel himself suffered from a sore hamstring on Monday and was limited in his activities on Day 10 of the preseason training camp.
