Jaden Greathouse will be serving as the WR1 for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next season, and he has been great so far. Fighting Irish offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock has been very positive on the wide receiver, noting that the staff and players are looking to him to deliver for the team.
“We want him to continue his progression and I think it did wonders for him understanding himself, right? Kind of fulfilling his own prophecy in some ways, where he knew he had the talent to play football that way,” Denbrock said regarding WR Jaden Greathouse, as per Irish Sports Daily on Instagram.
“Then to have the work that he put in to even refine that some more, have that rewarded and on a big stage in particular, I just think instils a lot of confidence. He’s playing very confident football. I think everybody’s looking to him as what we all know he can be and will be as a guy who can make plays,” Denbrock added.
Jaden Greathouse will be entering his senior year with over 180 catches, 3,100-plus yards, and 43 touchdowns during his first three seasons. He has impressed many with his speed and ability to go over smaller defensive backs. He has also shown that he can get creative with run-and-catch plays and knows how to create separation from defenders.
While Greathouse still has plenty of room to improve, especially on his top-end speed and his lateral suddenness, the incoming senior has the potential to develop into an NFL draft candidate, according to 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks.
Jaden Greathouse May Have Breakout Season as a Senior
The Fighting Irish made it all the way to the national championship game, only to lose to Ohio State. However, one key component to that national championship run was Jaden Greathouse, who showed that he can play very well in high-pressure situations. With that, many are seeing that he could finally have his breakout season.
Greathouse had plenty of potential coming in as a freshman, scoring two touchdowns in a season opener against Dublin, but he had been hampered by a hamstring injury since. However, he finally showed what he could do during his junior year, getting 13 catches for 233 yards and three touchdowns in his last two games, which are the Orange Bowl and the National championship game.
In addition, there is also plenty of trust between QB1 Riley Leonard and Greathouse, with head coach Marcus Freeman noting that the two have developed a connection that was not there originally.
