The Miami Hurricanes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish kick off their 2025 season against one another on August 31, with both teams having plenty to prove. However, this raises the question of which players might be missing the game due to injury, as there had been plenty of ones reported during training camp and beyond.

Miami Hurricanes Injury Report Week 1
Carson Beck Injury Update
Carson Beck has had a history of injuries, with the latest one being that elbow injury he suffered during last year’s SEC Championship Game against Texas, which required him to have surgery and miss several months. He has since transferred to Miami and still, that elbow surgery is at the back of many people’s minds.
Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal revealed that the former Georgia QB1 has now been cleared to play and even participated in the spring and fall practices.
Damari Brown Injury Update
Brown missed much of the season after injuring his foot against the Florida Gators and missed almost the entire 2024 season because of it. He has now been cleared and has also participated in the spring and fall practices.
Ryan Rodriguez Injury Update
Like Brown, Rodriguez also got injured against Florida, this time injuring his leg and missing the entire season because of it. He has now also been cleared to play.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Injury Update Week 1
Kevin Bauman Injury Update
Irish TE Kevin Bauman injured his left knee earlier in August, and this may have already ended his season, as he is projected to miss the entirety of the 2025 season.
Kedren Young Injury Update
Another big blow for the Fighting Irish is missing running back Kedren Young, who also got himself injured earlier in August on his right knee. Much like Bauman, his injury is seen as a season ender.
Charles Jagusah Injury Update
On the other hand, offensive lineman Charles Jagusah infamously injured his right arm during an ATV accident. Considered Notre Dame’s best OL, Jagusah was also hampered by injuries last season, and his infamous ATV incident is seen to further limit him this season. He will be sitting out the opener against Miami, but he is likely coming back later in the season.
Cooper Flanagan Injury Update
Meanwhile, another player seen to come back later this season but will be missing the opener against Miami is TE Cooper Flanagan. He suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon during the Sugar Bowl against Georgia last January, with him being expected to miss the early parts of the season at the very least.
