While there are some potentially difficult matchups, Fighting Irish fans can feel optimistic about making the newly expanded playoff as one of the highest-ranked non-conference champions.
The difficult matchups begin in Week 1 with a visit to Kyle Field to take on a Texas A&M Aggies team entering their post-Jimbo Fisher era. The SEC outfit returns starting quarterback Conner Weigman, who could prove to be a potential thorn in the side of the South Bend side.
