The Spring 2025 Commencement at the University of Alabama will begin Friday, with more than 6,700 students graduating at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The event made headlines when U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech reflecting on his first 100 days in office in a separate, ticked event Thursday night.
Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban joined him and even shared a hilarious story about their 2018 White House visit to celebrate the 2018 national championship. It had everyone rolling with laughter.

Nick Saban Drops Hilarious Trump Story at Alabama Graduation
Before handing the stage to President Donald Trump, Coach Nick Saban took a moment to share a funny memory from Alabama’s 2018 White House visit after their 2017 national championship win.
He recalled a lighthearted moment inside the Oval Office with team captains Rashaan Evans, Bradley Bozeman, and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
The White House, known for its formal setting, isn’t exactly where you’d expect a funny story to unfold—but that’s what made this one so memorable.

While standing near Trump’s desk, the players noticed a large box with a red button. Naturally, their curiosity kicked in. The button looked like something out of a movie, and the captains couldn’t resist asking about it.
One of the players asked curiously, “Is that what you use to launch the missiles?” Trump smiled and said, “Well, push it and find out.”
The player hesitated, saying, “No, I don’t want to do that.” But Trump encouraged him to try it, saying, “Go ahead, push it, see what happens.”
After a bit of hesitation, linebacker Rashaan Evans finally pushed the button. To everyone’s surprise, a staff member walked in with a tray of Coca-Cola. The room erupted in laughter as it turned out the red button was simply a calling bell.

During Trump’s first term, the Alabama Crimson Tide captured two titles, the second of which happened in 2020. Saban retired following the 2023 season, turning the program over to Kalen DeBoer.
If Trump’s presidency is any indicator to ‘Bama football success, this won’t be the last time the script “A” will be in the Oval Office.
