Xavier Worthy Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Chiefs WR Ahead of Week 8

After missing a few weeks due to an injury he suffered during Week 1 in Sao Paolo, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy just got injured again. This is a blow to the Chiefs, which just got him back only to reinjure himself on Week 7.

Worthy initially got injured in a collision with teammate Travis Kelce on Week 1. However, he came back last month during their showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Andy Reid was not too concerned about him reinjuring himself when ahead of his return against Baltimore:

“Listen, you’ve got to be healthy enough to go play,” Reid said. “I mean, we’re not gonna put him out there if he’s not healthy enough to go play and where he feels comfortable. He feels good, and then the other team, they’re gonna play hard no matter what, whether you have a shoulder [injury] or not. They’re gonna try to knock you around a little bit. That’s why you want to make sure you’re in the right frame of mind to go do it and physically OK.”

    What Happened to Xavier Worthy?

It was reported that on Sunday, during their Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Worthy appeared to have reinjured his shoulder during the third quarter. He was soon benched and looked very upset while watching from the sidelines. Given his precarious situation, he was not placed back in as the Chiefs dominated with a 31-0 win.

When Will Xavier Worthy Be Back?

His status right now is still unknown, as he has been listed as uninjured following the win against the Raiders. It is possible that he may have just suffered a very minor injury and was benched not to injure himself further, especially with the Chiefs dominating at that moment. He may even be healthy enough to play on Week 8 against the 3-4 Washington Commanders.

    Xavier Worthy Fantasy Outlook

The Chiefs have a very reliable trio of wide receivers in Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown, along with superstar tight end Travis Kelce. Should Worthy get truly injured again, Tyquan Thornton would be the one stepping up for the time being.

With that being said, it does not seem that Worthy was truly hurt during that game against the Raiders and is even expected to play on Week 8, so it should be safe to keep him and start him.
