Top 3 WR/CB Matchups for Week 8 Fantasy Football: Start/Sit Guide and Key Advantages

While the Thursday matchup has already been played, most fantasy football owners are focused on their start and sit decisions for Sunday. That is where most of the games will be played, and where fantasy matchups are won and lost. One of the key decisions for every fantasy owner each week is which wide receivers to start.

It is easy to make that decision if you have superstars like Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase on your roster, but most people are not that fortunate. For many players, the cornerback the wide receiver is expected to face can have a big impact. Here is a look at three interesting WR/CB matchups for Week 8 of the fantasy football season.

Top 3 WR/CB Matchups to Watch for Week 8 Fantasy Football and Who to Start?

    Wan’Dale Robinson vs. Cooper DeJean

New York Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson will face cornerback Cooper DeJean and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. With Malik Nabers out, Robinson has gotten extra snaps and ranks second on the team in target rate. He is the projected top option for QB Jaxson Dart against the Eagles.

However, he is up against a strong Eagles defense and will likely be matched up against CB Cooper DeJean for most of the game. DeJean has the eighth-lowest yards per slot coverage snap in the league. As a result, this could be a tough week for Robinson.

    Jerry Jeudy vs. Christian Gonzalez

Cleveland wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has been one of the biggest fantasy underperformers this season based on his expected fantasy points per game. To make matters worse, since QB Dillon Gabriel took over in Week 5, David Njoku and Harold Fannin Jr. have been his biggest targets.

Jeudy will be up against a strong New England CB in Christian Gonzalez, who has the 10th-lowest fantasy points per route run this season. Even if Gonzalez does not cover Jeudy all game, it could be another poor week for him.

    Rome Odunze vs. Marlon Humphrey

Chicago WR Rome Odenze leads the Bears in air yards share at 42%. He is targeted on 41% of his routes when playing against man coverage, and the Ravens employ the fourth-highest man coverage rate in the NFL. As a result, we expect Odenze to get a lot of action on Sunday. He is up against CB Marlon Humphrey, who allows the fourth-most fantasy points per route in the league. As a result, Odunze could have a strong week.
