Will Lamar Jackson Play Against the Packers? Injury Update on Ravens QB Ahead of Week 17

The Baltimore Ravens might have to fight their final game of the regular season without Lamar Jackson. The Saturday night encounter against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field is a must-win for John Harbaugh’s team, as a defeat would kill any remaining hopes of making the NFL Playoffs.

Lamar Jackson suffered a back injury, a serious back contusion, during last week’s game against the New England Patriots, when he was stepped on the back by a defender late in the second quarter of the 28-24 defeat. While he isn’t out officially, he is listed as doubtful and hasn’t participated in practice all week long.

The one consolation for the Ravens is that Green Bay’s Jordan Love has been confirmed as missing the games, and the game will likely see backups taking up center stage. The Packers already qualified for the postseason, but the game is not meaningless for them, as it could help them get a better seeding for the postseason.

The Ravens’ playoff chances are slim, however, as they need to win this week and next week at Pittsburgh. They would also need the Steelers to lose this weekend to the Cleveland Browns.

    What Happened to Lamar Jackson?

The Ravens quarterback suffered an injury during last week’s defeat to the New England Patriots. Late in the second quarter, Jackson was kneed in the back by Patriots safety Craig Woodson at the end of a three-yard run. He was initially back on the field, but struggled mightily and had to be taken off early in the third quarter.

    Will Lamar Jackson play tonight?

While he’s listed as doubtful, everything points to him missing the game. He hasn’t practiced all week with the team. Most reports point to him missing tonight’s games against the Green Bay Packers.

Tyler Huntley is expected to play on his stead.

What do the Baltimore Ravens need to do to make the NFL Playoffs?

The Ravens are already out of the race for the Wild Card spot. The only chance they have of making the postseason is winning the AFC North. The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a far better position to win the division, so Baltimore needs a series of unlikely results.

First, they need to win out. That means beating Green Bay and Pittsburgh on the road in Week 17 and Week 18, respectively. On the other hand, they would need the Steelers to lose in Week 17 to the 3-12 Cleveland Browns.
