Will Garrett Wilson Play Week 16? HC Aaron Glenn Provides Major Update on Jets CB

It just hasn’t been the New York Jets’ season this year. After a 5-12 season and finishing third in the AFC East, the Jets cleaned house bringing in a new coaching staff, and new quarterback, signing Justin Fields in the offseason.

Even with Aaron Glenn leading the Jets this season, the Jets have struggled all season, entering Week 16 with a 3-12 record.

Injuries have been part of the Jets’ woes this season, with Garrett Wilson being inactive since Week 11.

    What Happened to Garrett Wilson?

Garrett Wilson suffered a minor knee injury in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos hyperextending his knee, causing him to miss two games. He reinjured that same knee in the team’s Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns on November 9. He was placed on injured reserve as a result with the chance to return in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Will Garrett Wilson Return This Season?

No, Garrett Wilson will not return this season. Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters this morning that Wilson will not play for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season. His season ends with him totaling 36 receptions, 395 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns in seven games played.

With the Jets holding a 3-11 record heading into Week 16, there’s no reason to rush Wilson back from his knee injury. He is under contract with the team until the 2030 season after signing a four-year, $130 million contract this offseason. The team is being cautious with his recovery so that he doesn’t have any setbacks in his recovery.

Wilson will look to put together a better campaign during the 2025-2026 season with the Jets.

With Wilson sidelined for the remainder of the season, the Jets’ WR room will be led by Adonai Mitchell (who they acquired via trade from the Indianapolis Colts), John Metchie III, and Tyler Johnson.

The Jets face the New Orleans Saints this weekend, who are having another down season with a 4-10 record heading into Sunday’s game.
