The Miami Dolphins earlier this season parted ways with longtime general manager Chris Grier in October, ending his 10-year run with the franchise.
The changes have continued after the end of the 2025 regular season, after the organization dismissed head coach Mike McDaniel, and it seems like the Dolphins are looking for a significant coaching and management overhaul.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are also reportedly in the process of finalizing an agreement to appoint Jon-Eric Sullivan as their next general manager.
Sullivan spent his entire football career with the Green Bay Packers, starting out as a training camp intern in 2003. The Green Bay loyalist has worked in a variety of roles over the years, namely becoming a scout in 2008, director of college scouting in 2016, co-director of player personnel in 2018, and vice president of player personnel in 2022.
Jon-Eric Sullivan comes from a football family, as his father, Jerry Sullivan, was a longtime NFL and college coach who retired in 2021 after spending close to four decades in the profession.
Sullivan lives in Green Bay with his wife, Jennifer, and their three daughters, Samantha, Mia, and Cecilia. Jennifer also has strong ties to the coaching world, as she is the daughter of former 49ers’ tight ends coach Pete Hoener.
HC Hiring, Tagovailoa’s Contract Situation Primary Areas of Concern For Sullivan
Jon Eric-Sullivan’s arrival in Miami as their new GM carries a lot of responsibility given the team’s most recent 7-10 regular season finish and their inability to make it to the playoffs for the past couple of seasons. It’s safe to assume that one of his top priorities will be overseeing the search for a new head coach following McDaniel’s firing after four seasons.
The future of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will also be something that might be on Sullivan’s mind, as the 2020 fifth-round draft pick is set to enter his second year of his contract extension, which can reportedly cost them a mammoth $56.4 million.
Looking ahead, the franchise currently holds the No. 11 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, giving Sullivan an opportunity to find a prized pick for the 2026 season.
