Who Are Jordan Love’s Parents? A Look Into The Personal Life of Packers QB

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has become a well-known quarterback in the NFL. He recently came out of concussion protocol, but he is not expected to feature in Sunday’s regular-season game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Love will next feature in the postseason games for the Packers, but before that, let’s learn about his personal life, especially his parents.

    Who Are Jordan Love’s Parents?

Jordan Love was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. His father, Orbin Jr., was an officer for the Bakersfield Police Department. Meanwhile, his mother Anna was with the California Highway Patrol. The Love household also included Jordan’s three sisters, Kami, Emily, and Alexis.

Jordan was named after iconic Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan.

Growing up, Orbin Jr. coached many of his son’s teams. Love’s old man was a quarterback and even played in high school and junior college. The Packers quarterback has previously credited his old man for introducing him to the sport.

When he was just 14 years old, Love lost his father. Orbin Jr. committed suicide on July 13, 2013. The Bakersfield Police Department paid tribute to their late personnel with the following words:

“Orbin’s name certainly exemplified the way his fellow coworkers and community members felt about him because he was truly loved. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile and as a man of faith.”

Later in life, when Jordan was asked about his feelings at the time, the Packers quarterback told Chase Goodbread of NFL.com:

“My darkest moment was definitely the day it happened, just hearing about it right there in the car. I didn’t want to believe it.”

Orbin was Love’s “father, his friend, his coach, his mentor, his role model and his spiritual beacon.” According to Goodbread, Love’s father never “drank, smoked, used drugs or lost his temper.”

When it happened, Love even decided to drop football. However, his mother Anna encouraged him to keep playing for the sake of his father’s memories.

“I was a backup quarterback, playing wide receiver, and stuff wasn’t really going my way, and I was like, man, I might have to give it up. My mom … she’s the one that really pushed me to stick it out another year and see what happens,” Love said via People.

In his interview with NFL.com, Love recalls his father’s personality:

“If you knew him, he was the happiest dude you would ever see. He was always smiling. Even if things in his life got him down, he never showed that.”

Love also shared the reason he believed that led to the unfortunate act:

“Our family knew it was the medication messing with his head, not acting like himself, not acting right. If people make assumptions about depression that aren’t right, there’s nothing that can be done about that. It’s good enough for me to know it was the medication.”

In the wake of his father’s death, Anna made sure to never let Jordan Love feel empty. The quarterback said that since college her mother has attended each and every game of his.

“She’s been doing that since college when I was redshirting as a freshman, knowing I’m not even suiting up to see the field, she was there,” Jordan told The Athletic in 2021. “I tell her, ‘You know I’m not playing, you don’t have to go out of your way to come to these games.’ She’s like, ‘No, I’m going to be there. I want to see you.’ So, that’s been awesome.

“She’s been at every game. It’s nice to know she’s there. I try to look for her in the stands. It’s an awesome feeling. She’s great. She’s amazing. Just shows how much she loves me and cares about me to be there.”

Love considers both of his parents as role models. His parents have played a good hand in where Love is today.
