What Happened to Josh Allen? Bills QB Seemingly Suffers Injury During Jets Matchup

The Buffalo Bills had an early scare in their Week 2 clash with the New York Jets. Quarterback Josh Allen appeared shaken up in the first quarter after taking a hit on a short run. He was tackled for no gain and came up with blood visible on his face.

Allen immediately went to the sideline for medical attention. Trainers worked quickly to stop the bleeding, tending to what appeared to be a nose injury. His helmet was off as staff treated the area and applied padding.

While he was being checked, his backup, Mitchell Trubisky, stepped in for a play to keep the offense moving. The scene sparked concern across the stadium and on broadcasts, with many wondering if the Bills were about to lose their star player.

In a video posted by Clutch Points on X, Allen can be seen colliding face-first into a teammate’s thigh as the Jets pile up on him. Fortunately for Buffalo, the injury was not serious.

In Allen’s absence, Mitchell Trubisky remained in the game through the first quarter. He is the only other quarterback on the Bills’ active roster. Allen returned to the field at the start of the second quarter.

He missed just a couple of snaps before settling back in under center. His resilience ensured that Buffalo’s game plan remained intact despite the brief interruption. For the Bills, the scare serves as a reminder of how much their season hinges on the health of their quarterback.

Cowboys Legend Heaped Praise on Josh Allen

Ahead of the Week 2 matchup, Cowboys legend Tony Romo was asked about Allen on CBS’s NFL Today. Romo was all praise for the 29-year-old, claiming that he is among the best quarterbacks he has ever seen.

“I think you’re seeing his competitive spirit, like his mental approach taking it up a notch. Like he has got the nuance to the game, so he’s at like his perfect athletic prime,” Romo said.

“He’s learned how to throw a football better,” he added. “He knows the game at a very high level. He knows when to run, when not to. And I mean, he’s playing the quarterback position right now as well as I’ve almost seen it played.”

Romo put Allen in the same category as Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Joe Montana in terms of their skills as quarterbacks. That’s high praise coming from the all-time passing leader for the Cowboys.
